Fibroids Treatment
What Is Fibroids Treatment?
Fibroids, also known as uterine leiomyomas or myomas, are non-cancerous growths that develop in the uterus. They are composed of muscle fibers and can vary in size from as small as a pea to as large as a melon. While fibroids are most commonly found in women in their 30s and 40s, they can occur at any age and typically shrink after menopause due to hormonal changes.
Understanding Fibroids
Types of Fibroids:
- Intramural Fibroids: These grow within the wall of the uterus and are the most common type.
- Subserosal Fibroids: These extend outside the uterus, potentially causing pressure on nearby organs.
- Submucosal Fibroids: These grow just beneath the uterine lining and can lead to heavy menstrual bleeding.

Many women with fibroids may not experience symptoms; however, when symptoms do occur, they can include:
- Heavy or prolonged menstrual periods
- Pelvic pain or pressure
- Frequent urination
- Difficulty emptying the bladder
- Pain during intercourse
- Constipation
- Abdominal enlargement
